My primary responsibility is to manage the direction of the public and private electronic presence for the Foundation.
Strategic Direction - Active participant in the strategic planning process for the UI Foundation. - Established a working group to guide web direction for 2009-2014. - Member of the Senior UI Webmasters group to oversee webmaster workshops and key initiatives University-wide. Public Web Site (www.uifoundation.org - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash) - Implemented new design, content structure, code, and site maintenance processes. - Instituted an implementation team and advisory group to assist with site development and direction. - Aggregated social content into the site, including video, social feeds, images, and RSS content. - Develop sub sites for campaigns, solicitation efforts, and stewardship. - Oversee content and functional changes to the site. Online Giving Site (www.givetoiowa.org - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WebObjects) - Implemented new design on existing giving application. - Migrating giving site to new giving application and donor portal. - Oversee content and functional changes to the site. Social Presence (Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo) - Developed one of the first university foundation fan pages on Facebook. - Initiated the UI Foundation twitter account, and currently maintain posts to the account. - Initiated a Flickr account to share and manage photography. - Initiated YouTube and Video accounts to share and manage video. - Serve as technical advisor to our philanthropy awareness social presence (twitter, facebook) - Set up permission structures and content processes for all social accounts. - Moving key site content to a blogging engine to utilize RSS and permission control. Mass Electronic Communications (HTML, text messages) - Implemented HTML templates to promote consistency and reduce testing time for mass email messages. - Develop and test all mass HTML emails from the UI Foundation. - Provide direction in messaging, layout, and actions. Employee Intranet (HTML, JavaScript, MS SharePoint) - Oversee content and functional changes to existing intranet (HTML) - Converting current intranet to SharePoint environment, which includes permissions, layout, and content structure. - Instituted an implementation team and advisory group to assist with site development and direction. - Training staff to manage SharePoint site based on permissions. - |

For Web site development, I have experience with Macromedia/Adobe Dreamweaver and Flash, HomeSite and hand coding in Notepad.
I am comfortable in both Windows and Linux server environments, have experience in log analysis software (Google Analytics, AWStats, LogAnalyzer, WebTrends), am proficient in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and HTML, and have a limited working knowledge of JavaScript, XML, Microsoft SQL, and MySQL. For graphics and layout, I have experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PageMaker, and Microsoft Publisher. For productivity software, I am fluent in the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and 37 Signals BaseCamp. |
